Invitation to Join the Coalition for…
No Oregon Child Left Inside
We would like to invite you as an individual and/or your organization to become a member of the No Oregon Child Left Inside Coalition. The Coalition represents educational, natural resource, environmental, health and business organizations across Oregon. Coalition members are committed to the adoption of state legislation in Oregon for environmental education that will provide a framework with funding to foster synergistic activities among government agencies, nonprofit organizations and industry to maximize the efficiency of our efforts and dramatically increase the effectiveness of our work throughout the state.
The No Oregon Child Left Inside Act will strategically move environmental education in a forward direction so that it contributes to the overall health and well being of Oregonians, our environment, economy and communities. To better prepare students for the 21st century economy and to improve student achievement and health, we urge the Oregon State Legislature to pass the No Oregon Child Left Inside Act to ensure that environmental education serves as a prominent entity in reaching state goals for human and environmental health, sustainability and a prosperous economy.
The No Oregon Child Left Inside Act will:
-
Create an infrastructure and funding for the advancement of environmental education in Oregon;
Develop a statewide vision for environmental education;
-
Create a framework within which a state environmental literacy plan will be developed to ensure that high school graduates are environmentally literate; and
-
Provide funding through an environmental education grant program to support programs and projects aligned with a statewide vision for environmental education.
