
Marys River
Location: The Mid-Willamette Valley, is a sub-basin of the Willamette River Watershed. After leaving its headwaters on Marys Peak, the highest point in the Coast Range, the Marys River and its tributaries, including Muddy Creek, and joining with the Willamette River in Corvallis.
Size: More than 193,000 acres of land, almost half of Benton County.
Population: About 80,000 full time residents and an additional 20,000 Oregon State University students live within the boundaries of the Marys River.
Land use: Divided almost equally between agriculture, forestry and urban area.
Partners: The Marys River Watershed Council works with area residents, landowners, managers and users to promote watershed health. The council facilitates both on the ground restoration projects and education initiatives.
